Dhanteras shopping boosts local markets in Jharkhand: Chamber

Ranchi, Nov 7 (UNI) The Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) on Saturday expressed satisfaction over the encouraging response to local markets on Dhanteras, saying businesses across several sectors witnessed positive customer interest.
FJCCI president Tulsi Patel said markets remained active during the festive occasion, with good customer response in gold and silver, automobiles, electronics and other sectors. The positive trend had generated enthusiasm and satisfaction among traders, he said.
Patel also appreciated the district administration and traffic police for managing festive crowds and ensuring smooth movement of traffic in busy market areas.
He said the deployment of police personnel at crowded locations helped shoppers reach markets conveniently despite the usual festive rush.
Looking ahead to Diwali, Patel appealed to people to purchase decorative items, earthen lamps, lighting products, puja materials, sweets, clothes and gifts from local shops.
He said prioritising local products and businesses would support small and medium traders and artisans, generate employment opportunities and strengthen the state's economy.
FJCCI general secretary Rohit Agrawal said the response on Dhanteras reflected people's continued trust in and association with local markets.
He urged consumers to adopt the 'Vocal for Local' approach during Diwali and support local shopkeepers, small businesses and artisans.
He said such purchases would help ensure that the economic benefits of the festive season reached local traders and contributed to strengthening Jharkhand's economy.
